Ultimate Coffee Date: February Edition

With January behind us and February upon us, that can only mean one thing …it’s time to catch up over coffee. So grab you favorite mug, fill her up and get comfy …..

If we were having coffee …

I’d tell you that for the first Saturday in months, I’m actually sitting on the couch sipping coffee rather than out on a long training run and it’s heavenly.  However, after a full week of marathon rest and recovery, I am beginning to feel the running itch again. You’d think with all the down time, I would’ve been able to get my race recap done right away. To be honest though, it wasn’t an issue of time, but rather an issue of getting my thoughts together. Many of you kept telling me ….there’s nothing like you first marathon experience and I didn’t truly get that until I sat down to write about my experience. It’s difficult to express the roller coaster of emotions one feels during those first 26.2 miles. I gave it my best shot and you can read about it here, if you’re interested. Yes, it’s long and I apologize for that ….but hey, 26 miles is a long way!

I runfess that this wine glass just may get me in trouble!

If we were having coffee …

Speaking of running …my main goal for this marathon was to finish uninjured. I think I can say that I accomplished that. While my foot is still tender, it certainly isn’t any worse. I had held off on making any other race plans for the year until I got this marathon behind me and could assess the situation. I think I’ll give the foot one more week to rest before trying it out on a run …then hopefully, I can start looking at a spring race or two. And who knows, maybe even a blogger meet up this summer!

If we were having coffee …

I’d tell you that I finally caught up on Rachel’s Burpees, Plank & Push-Ups Challenge. I must give credit where credit is due ….as much as I hated burpees going in to this challenge, I have grown to appreciate them and maybe even like them …a little bit. Rachel has graciously decided to host another challenge which I committed to without really knowing what it would be ….what could be harder than burpees, right? Want to join us this month? Check it out here, we’d love to have you.

If we were having coffee …

I’d tell you that I did something really stupid the morning of my appointment with the podiatrist. I’m really not sure what possessed me to decide, a mere 30 minutes before leaving the house, to touch up my nail polish ….what is it about doctor’s appointments that bring out the need to take care of neglected personal maintenance? You know, a dentist appointment requires last-minute flossing, ENT appointments make you get the Q-tips out, Gyn appointment requires a bikini wax, etc… Tell me I’m not alone in this? Anyway, a trip to podiatrist called for a polish touch-up and an attempt to cover my two black toenails. Well ….in my rushed effort to get this done so they’d have time to dry, I knocked the bottle of I’m Really Not a Waitress red bottle of nail polish off the counter, sending it flying across the bathroom floor and shattering upon landing on the white ceramic tile. There I was, staring at bright red nail polish splattered all over the floor with only 15 minutes before I needed to leave the house.  20180203_101339.jpg I frantically worked on it until I achieved this nice shade of pink and had to leave. The rest did eventually come up with a second bottle of nail polish remover. Thank goodness the grout was dark or I’d be looking at new flooring for the bathroom.

…and with that, my cup is empty and it’s time to get moving. Apparently I have some russian twists to do.  I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for their Ultimate Coffee Date monthly link. Be sure to visit their blogs and all the others to see what they’ve been up to this past month. The-Ultimate-Coffee-Date2-e1472303933116

What would you share with me over coffee? Do you perform ‘maintenance’ before certain doctor’s appts? What Spring races do you have on your schedule?

xoxo,

Finding “Fabulous” at Fifty, one cup of coffee at a time!

  1. I missed your recap! I will try to get to that later today because I’m dying to read it. Truly.
I may just be a sloth . . . I don’t brush or floss before a dentist appointment. I don’t do my toenails at all and rarely my fingernails, either. And let’s just say I’ve never waxed ANYTHING.
Glad to hear your foot is not worse and that you still want to run. 🙂

  2. I’m glad you didn’t get injured on your marathon (congrats!!) and great job getting through the burpees/planks/pushups challenge! :]
I’ve definitely noticed that too–my patients always apologize to me for not shaving or being sweaty, but they’re generally not the ones where I have any issues with their personal hygiene! :p

  3. You totally crack me up….that would be a classic Kim maneuver (a last-minute primping fix that escalated into a gigantic clean-up effort). Countless times, I have stood in a state of perplexed-ness, wondering what the WHAT I was thinking. Congrats, again, on your marathon!!!

  4. Oh no on the nail polish! My podiatrist doesn’t like nail polish and of course has to take it off if I’m having any toe issues. I guess with your injury your toes were safe. You deserve all that sofa time — off to enjoy your recap.

  5. I’m not really a waitress is one of my all time favorite colors…I knew I like you! I’d be more mad about losing that precious polish out of the bottle than I would be about cleaning up the floor! LOL!

Glad to hear that you are recovering nicely from your marathon!

  7. Totally agree on the extra grooming before appointments. 😉 Just this week, I had to make sure everything was shaved and moisturized before going to the dermatologist. Is that an OPI color? I’ve quit buying polish. I just pick the color and the nail shop.

I have totally done the same thing with nail polish! Luckily, I was able to get it off the floor just not the cupboards (at least they were dark). I found nail polish on things for years after that.
