Ultimate Coffee Date: It’s Homecoming Month, Y’all!

First things first y’all …it’s homecoming month and if we were having coffee, I’d be strolling in the coffee shop grinning from ear to ear and about as giddy as a school girl with a brand new crush!

But since we can’t have coffee face to face, pour yourself a cup of your favorite morning beverage, pull up a chair and let’s catch up with Deborah and Coco via the Ultimate (virtual) Coffee Date.

Can you tell I’m just a little excited? Yeah baby! Major Hubs is coming home this month and it simply can’t get here soon enough. While this has been a shorter deployment than his previous one, five months is still long enough for things to start breaking down around the house and for this Army wife to be getting VERY close to the end of her rope.  I am counting down the days and it won’t be long before I’ll need to shave my legs! Lol

As many of you already know, I’m back in training mode. This time, I had this crazy idea to tackle a 25k trail race. Since I have little to no experience actually running a single track course, I decided to join a group training program. I’m really enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of trail running, not to mention the shade is a welcome reprieve from the sweltering heat and humidity of our Mississippi summers. However, if we were having coffee, I’d mention that after only 3 trail runs, I’m already beginning to feel a few aches and niggles in my ankles and legs. I’m hoping it’s just weaknesses being brought to light and they will strengthen over time rather than becoming a full-fledged injury. Time will tell. Fingers crossed.

Remember that little ‘fat freezing’ procedure I had done several weeks ago? Well ….I have my follow-up appointment in two weeks in which I will have my ‘after’ photos taken and will finally be able to compare them to my ‘before’ photos. I promised a full review of the procedure with all the details and it’s coming soon. But since we’re having coffee, I’ll give you a little bit of a spoiler ….2 inches! And I’ll just leave it at that. Stay tuned!

On another note ….if we were having coffee, I’d tell you all about a new to me line of cosmetics that I’m just totally in love with. Thrive Causemetics. For every product purchased, a product is donated to a woman battling cancer. I love this. The following excerpt is from their website:

Thrive Causemetics was born out of a friendship. Makeup artist and product developer, Karissa Bodnar, lost her dear friend Kristy to cancer at just 24 years old. Kristy’s compassionate and vivacious spirit inspired Karissa to establish Thrive Causemetics, a beauty brand and philosophy that goes beyond skin deep by empowering women.

Thrive Causemetics is Beauty with a Purpose: for every product you purchase, one is donated to help a woman thrive. We believe changing the world starts with a single ingredient, and that’s why we create vegan, 100% cruelty-free formulas containing proven ingredients without the use of parabens or sulfates. All of our high-performance cosmetics are developed at Thrive Lab in Los Angeles—we control every step of the product development process, and a large part of it involves you. From selecting shades for our Glossy Lip Mark to testing our new formulations, your voice is heard in every step of our product creation process.

With over a decade of experience as a makeup artist, beauty product designer, and formulator, Karissa has traveled the world sourcing powerful ingredients to create clean formulas with skin-loving properties. Her passion for empowering women of all walks of life through the gift of beauty has taken her from backstage at Fashion Week to working with an impressive roster of high-profile clients.

Thrive Causemetics is a movement that anyone can join. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to empower and inspire countless women’s lives.

I’ve tried several of their products with my favorite being the fiber mascara …it doesn’t flake, smudge or clump and will stay on until you remove it. Best of all, you get long lush lashes for days!

“This tubing mascara is powered by Orchid Stem Cell Complex™ to promote long-term growth + Fiber Potion™ that combines buildable fibers and Korean plant extracts to add dramatic length + curl, creating the glamour of faux-lashes without the glue.”

If you’d like to try any of these fabulous products and help other women thrive, order through my link and receive $10 off your $50 order as well as free shipping.

….and with that, my cup is empty. It’s time to lace up my running shoes and hit the trails! Thanks for stopping by and ‘spilling’ over coffee. Be sure to visit Deborah and Coco and thank them for hosting the Ultimate Coffee Date …it’s always a favorite of mine!

  2. Yay! Yay! Yay! So happy the homecoming is imminent. You’ve been a real trooper these past 5 months. Yeah trails will definitely tell you where your weaknesses are. Holler if you want some strengthening exercises.

  3. So excited that Major Hubs is coming home! You’ve done amazingly well in the time he’s been gone.

I’m pretty amazed at the success of the fat freezing procedure. Who knew?

  4. A 25k trail race? How exciting! I hope you love it. I made the transition to mostly trail racing several years ago, and have not looked back since.

Hope the time between now and when your hubby gets home passes quickly!

  5. Well, Hallelujah for the homecoming! It’s great to hear the Major will be home soon!

That cosmetics company sounds really interesting – what a great cause! I will have to check out their line.

Have I told you how much I love that you’re pushing yourself out of your comfit zone with this trail race?! Hope those little niggles you’re feeling are just that and no more.

  6. Yay! So happy for you that Major Hubs is coming home soon! I’ll have to check out Thrive cosmetics… love that they give back and also that they are clean, vegan and cruelty free! Oh, yea… you’ll feel a difference from trail running!

  7. I’m so happy for you and Major Hubs! I have a set of coasters that say, “Was he worth shaving her legs for?” LOL
Are you serious about the fiber mascara, that “it doesn’t flake, smudge or clump and will stay on until you remove it. Best of all, you get long lush lashes for days!” If so, I’m sold! I was blessed with short, straight, stumpy light brown lashes. Joy, joy.

  8. Yay!!!! Major Hubs is coming home!!!!! I know how exciting that it, and I totally hear ya on the things breaking down. My hubby has been home, thankfully, but everything is breaking down in our house…the microwave and BOTH air conditioning units. UGH.

  9. I’m so excited for your reunion! 5 months may be “short”, but it definitely isn’t at all! I can’t even imagine.

When I was still in Austin & Mr. Judy was still up here, we had quite bit of AC problems. Which as you can imagine, in summer in TX, was not at all pleasant. Not to mention handling things like meeting with realtors eventually as we got ready to sell the house . . . I hear ya!

I hope that the niggles aren’t anything. It may just be that trail running uses a lot of those stabilizer muscles we never use — and that’s ultimately a really good thing.

And yay for 2 inches! I’d sure like to get rid of 2 inches of flappy skin here & there.

    • Thanks Judy! I am more than ready to have him back home!

Yes, I think you’re right about the niggles just being weak stabilizers. Everyone keeps telling me that trail running will make you a stronger road runner. We shall see. But I’m really enjoying it so far.
